At least, it would be for me. If I wanted to spend $80-100k+ on a big sedan, I don't know if I would be able to choose between my options:
If I had to sit here and pick between 3 of my favorite new cars (and the BMW, which I like but wouldn't end up with), I might go insane. I need help!
Oh hai. That was easier than I thought!

The Maserati is so ugly though!
![]() 07/22/2014 at 15:18 |

Au contraire, I find it very good-looking indeed, especially in person!

I'd buy the S550. Close second would be the A8. The rest, I don't care for.

Model S for me. Or a Panamera.
![]() 07/22/2014 at 15:21 |

Bloody hell, I forgot about those.
Model S maybe, but I really like a gas engine.
Panamera, no way in hell. I don't care how good it is, it is by far the ugliest car on sale in the US today.

If I'm driving: S8
If I'm being driven: S Class

Wait a few years and buy a used one for 10 grand. You'll need an extra 10 grand laying around for operating expenses however.
![]() 07/22/2014 at 15:24 |

Or buy a new one and use the warranty.
Although yeah, I'd probably buy off lease/CPO in real life.

S500 all day. It's the best of the best and can practically drive itself. And it also happens to be the best looking one of the bunch.
Second choice would actually be a Range Rover or a 2010 Quattroporte GTS for me.
![]() 07/22/2014 at 15:28 |

Can I have an RS7 instead?
![]() 07/22/2014 at 15:28 |

Too bad the Maserati feels cheap compared to the other choices, because dat engine sound.
![]() 07/22/2014 at 15:28 |

Range Rover I'm not counting, I'm just looking at sedans. If I started thinking about the Range Rover/G-Class, my head would explode.
Also, I quite like driving myself. The S-Class is a chauffeured-type vehicle, so you'd have 2 things that aren't you driving.
In reality, I love the new S-Class. It looks great in person, and in terms of tech, it blows the competition out of the water.

Quattroporte with the V8.
Because no 4 door sedan should belch such violent thunder while waiting in the drive through line of a Starbucks. But that one does. And it makes you smile every time.
![]() 07/22/2014 at 15:31 |

Absolute worst update to the Quattroporte.

I'd probably buy a CLS63. Because 550hp twin turbo V8. And if I was a millionaire - I would add $15k worth of options, bringing the total to $115k (Prem Pkg 1, Carbon Fiber spoiler, AMG steering Wheel, Illuminated door sills, AMG door pins)

![]() 07/22/2014 at 15:37 |

Yes, but 523hp is good enough for me, as long as it sounds like this:
If I were gonna get a CLS63, I'd just get an RS7.

NOPE NOPE JOPE MOPE LOPE. I hate the looks more in person. The belt line is too high, the fender vents are tasteless, the front is cluttered, the rear door looks too long and there are too many creases. And it looks bloated

LS600hL
5.0 Yamaha V8 plus Lexus Hybrid Drive to all 4 wheels (performance, not economy hybrid)

I guess it's a matter of opinion. But you can't argue with this:
![]() 07/22/2014 at 15:41 |

No offense, but that is literally the last car in the category I would choose. Apart from maybe a Hyundai Equus. Nice car, but a little boring compared to the competition.
![]() 07/22/2014 at 15:43 |
|
The others seem waaay more boring to me lol :]
![]() 07/22/2014 at 15:45 |

Unless I had to go out tomorrow and buy something, I'd have to wait and see the new Cadillac Whateverletter-TS before making a decision.
If I had to buy something tomorrow, the Jaaaaaaaaaaaaag would be my pick.
![]() 07/22/2014 at 15:47 |

Yeah, I too am waiting in anticipation of that new Cadillac. Also, the replacement for the Phantom, but that may just add another zero to the Caddy's price.
![]() 07/22/2014 at 15:48 |
|
Ooh, I forgot the Phantom's about due for a replacement.
![]() 07/22/2014 at 15:49 |

I need to start saving. Better, yet we should start an Oppo collection fund to buy an Oppo Phantom, and then mostly let me use it. Yeah, that's a good idea.
![]() 07/22/2014 at 16:06 |

Yeah, the S-Class feels 10 years ahead and is half a class more luxurious inside.
Would you say that any car except for the Quattroporte and Panamera in that class is a "drivers car"? I personally don't think so, and if I'm shopping for a two ton leather tank, then it better be fancy as hell. That's why I'd go with an S-class, even if its a bit ponderous compared to a sport 7 series.
![]() 07/22/2014 at 16:23 |

As long as there's a second one started for a Sierra 3500 Denali.

As long as you don't want it to do anything ridiculous, like start.

This is how I look at it:
Audi: How's the stock market looking today?
BMW: So Mr. Vuchich, how much money DID you actually steal from Serbia?
Merc: Heir to the throne of Deusenbergia, Royal Crown Prince EsseMeee Seventie, how are you today?
Jag: So boys, what bank are we hittin' today?
Maser: Ok Leone, who's in the trunk?
![]() 07/22/2014 at 17:05 |

I think the Alpina does it for me. This thing is absolutely gorgeous.

"Open the boot. Whose head's that?"
![]() 07/22/2014 at 17:08 |

Color, yes. Wheels, yes. White leather interior like on a cocaine kingpin's Countach, yes.
Front/rear spoilers on a 7-series? No.
![]() 07/22/2014 at 17:25 |

Yeah. I would take an S600. I really love the new S-Class.

The Quattroporte is a great idea, but it's every bit as unattractive as the Panamera; just in the opposite way.

My boss is in the top .5 percent, and he just returned his leased 2013 A6 and paid cash for an RS7. Not a bad choice in my eyes...It goes well with his 2007 Bentley Continental Speed.
Id get a Model S. Out of your list I'd get the Jag though.
![]() 07/22/2014 at 23:43 |

But, but, you are an Audi man!
![]() 07/22/2014 at 23:48 |
|
I am. But as much as the W12 is a cool engine, it isn't very reliable, is insanely expensive to maintain, and is slower, less powerful, less efficient, more expensive, and heavier than the TT V8 in the S8. The only upside is smoothness, so if that's what you want, and you have an enormous budget and are buying new, under warranty, get the W12. Otherwise, I wouldn't recommend it. Audi hardly sells any, so I'm surprised they still make it.
![]() 07/22/2014 at 23:49 |

Oh wait, the S8 was in question?
S8 ALL THE WAY

Yes magic body control, but seriously this looks like shit.
![]() 07/23/2014 at 09:12 |

Yeah, that is kind of a dumb design feature on an otherwise very good-looking car. Was there no way for them to make it less visible/obvious?
